Temperamentally restless and intense, I walk our land daily for solace and protection from an over-active life. There, particularly in the forest, I experience a universe not dominated by time but where, nonetheless, progression is clearly recorded.
Trees adapt to constant change with a slow and steady rhythm. They form themselves into monuments of survival; separating, entwining, bending, shedding, rejoining as they meet obstacle after obstacle. So too, the Vermonters around me have for generations lived determined lives. They inspire me.
